Overview
This 1-day adventure departs Nairobi early, heading to Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park for a moderate hike to its summit. The 9km trail offers opportunities to spot buffalo, baboons, and various bird species, culminating in panoramic views of the Athi plains, Mt. Kenya, and sometimes Mt. Kilimanjaro. After a picnic lunch, the tour includes a visit to the Kilimambogo cultural area to learn about Kikuyu heritage. Day-by-Day Itinerary
Depart Nairobi at 5:30 AM for a two-hour drive to Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park. Upon arrival around 8:00 AM, check in and begin a 9 km hike to the summit, taking 2-3 hours. Along the trail, observe wildlife such as buffalo, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, bushbucks, and various bird species. At the summit, enjoy wide views of the Athi plains, Mt. Kenya, and potentially Mt. Kilimanjaro. Have a packed picnic lunch around noon. Descend and leave the park by 1:00 PM for a brief visit to the Kilimambogo cultural area, learning about Kikuyu heritage. The final stop is Fourteen Falls near Thika for photos and exploration. Begin the drive back to Nairobi around 4:00 PM, with an optional refreshment stop, arriving between 5:30-6:30 PM.
